About Edwiso
Edwiso lets a student considering a college talk to a verified student who is already there — anonymously, one on one, for a flat per-session fee. It exists because the information a seventeen-year-old uses to make a five-year, several-lakh decision is almost entirely produced by people who profit from that decision going a particular way.
The problem we started from
College discovery in India runs on paid placement. Ranking sites sell featured slots. Review portals monetise by selling student contact details to colleges and coaching agencies as leads. Campus ambassadors are handed talking points. Even the honest-looking forum thread often has an incentive behind it. By the time a student has read a dozen sources, they have read one source repeated twelve times — and none of it answers the question they actually have: what is it like to be a student here, this year?
The only people who know that answer are the students already on campus. But a named student cannot say it publicly. Colleges police social posts, brand-ambassador programmes hand out scripts, and peers apply their own pressure. So the honest answer exists, and is almost never said out loud.
What we built
Edwiso removes the two things that suppress that answer: attribution and misaligned incentives.
- Anonymity. Every mentor uploads a current college ID and institutional email, which we review manually before they can take a session. Once verified, they appear under a pseudonym — a real, checkable student, without their identity exposed to their college or their batch.
- Payment direction. Mentors are paid by the students they speak to, never by colleges. Edwiso has no advertiser relationship with any institution and sells no leads. That is why the platform is paid rather than free: a free product would have to be funded by whoever wanted to influence the answer.
Each session is a flat price for the length the student picks, so the cost is known before booking. Every chat is moderated for harassment, and conversations are never sold or shared with colleges or advertisers.
Who Edwiso is for
Students in Class 11 and 12 and their parents, deciding between admits. Undergraduates considering a branch change or a transfer. Anyone weighing an Indian college against what its brochure claims about placements, hostel life, faculty, or batch quality.
On the other side: current students and recent graduates who want to make their own experience useful to someone facing the same choice — and be paid for the time it takes. Become a mentor.
Where we are
Edwiso is built in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, and operates across India. We are a small team, reachable directly at connect@edwiso.com rather than through a ticket queue.
